About Luis Miralles


Dr. Luis Miralles is currently an Assistant Lecturer at TU Dublin. His research focuses on using Reinforcement Learning to address public health challenges, particularly managing COVID-19 containment strategies while balancing health and economic impacts. He also specializes in human activity recognition and generalized zero-shot learning (GZSL).

He holds a degree in Computer Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Murcia, Spain, and a Master's in Computer Security from the International University of La Rioja, Spain. He earned his PhD in Machine Learning, focusing on online advertising at the University of Murcia.

Dr. Miralles worked as a postdoctoral researcher at CeADAR (Ireland's Centre for Applied AI) at University College Dublin (UCD), contributing to several projects related to predictive maintenance, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing. Notably, he applied predictive maintenance techniques to the Oil and Gas industry through a project with Wood Group Kenny.

Before his role at TU Dublin, he was a full-time Professor and Researcher at the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City for over three years. Dr. Miralles has been active in machine learning and data science since 2013 and has an extensive record of publications. Additionally, he played a crucial role in Project Digitum, developing a Java-based digital repository for the University of Murcia to manage research documents.
